Counter with the arms of Gough impaling Hynde, about 1730
Armorial counters were often ordered at the same time that armorial porcelain was ordered. It has been estimated that approximately one-quarter to one-third of the estimated 6,000 armorial porcelain services made in China between 1700 and 1850 were accompanied by sets mother-of-pearl counters.
